Noise and nuttiness in New York

When my mom, my 2 brothers, and I all went to New York in 2013, we did lots of fun things I must share with you.

We went to the memorial for the Twin Towers. There were two holes where the buildings used to stand and inside them were waterfalls that led to a very, very deep pool of water. They were not a swimming pools, and they simply couldn't be, because they were meant to be a memorial for those that lost their lives there. There was one tree, the only tree that survived 9/11.

Tree Survivor
We also went to a delicious doughnut shop called "Baby cakes", but the name was changed, and now it is "Erin McKenna's Bakery". Baby Cakes is really good, and the doughnuts are like Old Fashion Dunkin' Doughnuts covered in glazed sugar.

Original Torch
We also went to visit the Statue of Liberty. It was a gift from France to the United States to show peace to each other. It was deigned to be the artist's mother's face.  The artist's name was Frédéric Bartholdi. The Statue of Liberty is 305 feet tall and on Liberty Island located south of Ellis Island. Ellis Island is also in New York, and it used to be used as a place where people went when they immigrated to America. The torch that is on the statue now, was not the same one the french mailed here! The original torch is inside the museum.

LOTS of people want to see Lady Liberty (a.k.a. the Statue of Liberty). There was lots of noise and nuttiness in New York!

The statue of liberty is made of coper, or the same thing as pennies, so it started out in a bronze color, but began to turn greenish just like pennies do after a long time.
This is a picture we took on the boat.

The land by the statue is not big, but very green. we rode a boat with many other people going to the statue, from Manhattan to Liberty Island.
